Matt Mizesko, DVM

Co-Owner and Full-Time Emergency Veterinarian

Dr. Matt Mizesko is the owner and lead Emergency Veterinarian of his veterinary practice, where he has dedicated his career to providing urgent and critical care for animals. Originally from the east coast of North Carolina, Dr. Mizesko began his journey in veterinary medicine as a veterinary assistant at just 18 years old. He remained in the field throughout his undergraduate years before spending four years as a high school teacher while continuing part-time veterinary work. His enduring passion for animal care ultimately led him to pursue a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at a veterinary school in Grenada, West Indies.

After earning his degree, Dr. Mizesko and his wife relocated to Northeast Florida, where he established his veterinary career. His professional interests lie in emergency medicine, with a particular enthusiasm for emergency surgeries and procedures. He also values the connections formed with pet owners during critical moments, recognizing the importance of empathy and clear communication in his work.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Mizesko enjoys a vibrant and family-oriented lifestyle. He and his wife are proud parents to five children and caretakers to a lively assortment of animals, including three dogs, four barn cats, two pigs, and twelve chickens. The family loves beach outings, warm weather, and frequent trips to Disney for quick getaways.

Rachel Corlett, DVM

Emergency Veterinarian

Dr. Rachel Corlett is an Emergency Veterinarian at Focused Pet Care, bringing a lifelong passion for animal care and a deep commitment to emergency medicine. Originally born in the Northeast, she moved to Florida at a young age and has strong ties to the University of Florida, proudly identifying as a “Triple Gator.” Her academic journey includes an undergraduate degree, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), and a faculty position as a Clinical Lecturer in Emergency Medicine at UF until 2022.

After her time at UF, Dr. Corlett expanded her experience in Atlanta, working at a large multi-specialty veterinary hospital. She eventually returned to Florida to be closer to her family and continue her dedication to emergency veterinary services.

Dr. Corlett’s interest in veterinary medicine was sparked early—she began working as a kennel technician at 18 and has never left the field. Inspired by veterinarians on television and a lifelong fascination with animals, she is driven by the emotional purity and nonjudgmental nature of the animals she cares for—despite the occasional judgy glance from a cat.

Her professional interests include complex emergency cases and parasitology. While in vet school, she participated in a research study on Rat Lungworm, further deepening her expertise in parasitic diseases.

Outside of her veterinary work, Rachel enjoys a vibrant home life with her husband, Justin, their four dogs, three Persian cats, and a tortoise. She spends her free time crafting, exercising, and making memories with her family.
